History: Master Cida Lima's famous ceramic heads are the result of a story of great dedication and sacrifice. At just eight years old, Maria Aparecida de Cida Lima, 49, started molding clay to help her family support their home. Born and raised in the municipality of Belo Jardim, in the interior of the State of Pernambuco, home to true artisanal wealth, she always lived with her family's poverty, and spared no effort to see the good of her children.
In 2005, Cida had a turning point in her career, when she met the artist Ana Veloso, who at the time was coordinating a project to support artisans, whose objective was to revitalize artisanal production and stimulate the potential of local artisans. “She said that we should change the work and make the pieces as crafts, and no longer as utilitarian pieces, like pans and glasses, which was the basis of our work. With the change in work, I saw that our lives would improve.”
After Ana Veloso's tips, Cida Lima began producing her famous clay heads, which have a different aesthetic and an impeccable finish, which enchant architects and decorators, who started to use them in their projects, decorating shelves and rooms in many countries.
With the success of the leaders, Cida Lima never stopped, and was recognized as a master craftsman: “I am an accomplished person. I never thought that because of my work I would get to where I am.”
Note : Because they are produced by hand, each piece is unique, with no two being exactly the same. There may be small variations in dimensions (more or less), colors and tones between the pieces and between what is perceived on cell phone or computer screens and the real pieces.
