Origin : Jequitinhonha Valley, Brazil (State of Minas Gerais)
History : The Jequitinhonha Valley is located in the North of the State of Minas Gerais, in the Southeast of Brazil, and was once considered one of the poorest regions in the country, punished by prolonged droughts. Historically, men left the area in search of work opportunities in other regions, but in recent decades, women from several cities in the region began to change the game, producing high-quality handcrafted ceramic pieces, which became a source of income and sustenance for families, containing the exodus of adults.
The Jequitinhonha Valley has become a new artistic hub for ceramics production, which stands out for its pastel colors (made with color variations in the clay itself) and for being delicate decorative pieces.
Observations : As they are produced by hand, each piece is unique, with no two being exactly the same. There may be small variations in dimensions (more or less), colors and tones between the pieces and between what is perceived on cell phone or computer screens and the real pieces.
